Bring richness and depth to your palette with Schmincke Horadam Aquarell Watercolour Paint – Perylene Dark Red (Colour No. 344, Series 3). This warm, deep red delivers powerful saturation and a natural warmth that makes it perfect for florals, portrait shadows, and atmospheric landscapes. Introduced to replace the discontinued Dark Red, it offers a nearly identical tone with enhanced lightfastness and improved pigment stability.
Formulated with Pigment Red 178 (PR178), this colour features semi-opaque coverage, semi-staining properties, and excellent handling, allowing for both bold, opaque strokes and soft, diffused glazes. Its warm undertone creates beautifully natural mixes when combined with browns, greens, and blues, while maintaining clarity and strength in layers.
Each Horadam Aquarell paint is bound with the finest Kordofan Gum Arabic, sourced from the southern Sahara and carefully batch-tested to ensure outstanding stability, resolubility, and colour consistency. Once dried on the palette, the paint rewets effortlessly, retaining its smooth, buttery texture and high pigment load.
With over 150 professional colours available in 5ml, 15ml, Half Pan, and Full Pan formats (sold separately), and 95 single-pigment hues for clean, reliable mixing, Schmincke Horadam Aquarell remains a symbol of premium watercolour quality and craftsmanship.
Perylene Dark Red (Series 3) is a warm, semi-opaque deep red with excellent lightfastness and strong tinting strength, making it an essential choice for artists seeking expressive depth, warmth, and lasting brilliance in their work.
